When fully extended the gas strut body and metal rod are in contact. There are metal to metal noise.

The fitting of these bonnet struts is extremely easy. You need a 13mm socket and a 12mm open end spanner. The brackets provided are well engineered and the instructions are clear. The bonnet will be in a slightly higher position after fitting. Opening and closing the bonnet is much easier after fitting the struts.

Nice unit. Stupidly I sat the bonnet on the existing support whilst installing and the struts were too long for the fittings so I attempted to depress them down a number of ways when in fact I only had to lift the bonnet up a bit to get them to fit. Hopefully others won’t be so stupid
